No-cost energy-saving services are available to help make your home more comfortable and lower your energy use. The following requirements must be met to receive a home energy assessment:
- The home must be at least 5 years old.
- An assessment must not have been completed within the last 3 years.
- The home’s primary heat source must be fueled by CenterPoint Energy electricity.
Depending on your household, you may qualify for one of the programs below.
Neighborhood Weatherization Program
Income-qualified homeowners and renters can get a no-cost energy assessment and receive on-the-spot upgrades, which may include weatherstripping, aerators, pipe insulation, a smart thermostat and more. Upon completion of the assessment, the technician will give you a personalized home energy report with an action plan for additional no-cost energy-saving efforts for your home.
This program offers additional benefits like insulation, furnace tune-ups, and other improvements at no extra charge.
*Eligible income-qualified customers must receive a total household income not exceeding 200% of the federal-established poverty level. Existing benefits from SNAP, LIHEAP, WIC, Welfare, and /or Section 8 or other EAP recipients are automatically eligible.

Home Energy Assessment Program
Households that are not eligible for the Neighborhood Weatherization Program can take advantage of the Home Energy Assessment Program. This program also provides a no-cost energy assessment along with personalized recommendations to help improve your home’s comfort and reduce energy use.
